ETALKS X Embrace Relief Earthquake Relief Fundraiser Livestream

11 February, 2023

E-TALKS had a relief campaign LIVESTREAM on YouTube on SATURDAY, 2/11, at 9:00PM EST, hosting educators, activists, and anyone who wanted to raise awareness for the humanitarian crisis in Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon.

WHY DID WE DO THIS?

– To provide financial and mental support for those impacted by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon,

-To spread hope and compassion for humanity

-To demonstrate that regardless of our differences, we can help those in need

Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon are hit with a series of devastating earthquakes on February 6 and 7. The first earthquake had a magnitude of 7.8, and the other earthquake happened 9 hours later with a magnitude of 7.5. It has been reported that these earthquakes had the biggest destruction in the past 500 years. So far, more than 21,000 people have been reported dead, 70,000 injured, and there are still thousands of people who are waiting to be rescued under the ruins. Currently, more than 15 million people just in Turkey are in dire need of assistance, especially in this freezing weather. They need essentials such as blankets, clothing, medicine, tents, and food.

WHO ARE WE? WHAT IS E-TALKS?

We are a young activist group of high school and college students that aims to spread awareness of how important artistic expression is to both individuals and society as a whole through events featuring scientific speakers, performances and more. During E-TALKS, we are joined by experts in the fields of science, culture and art who give presentations on topics related to their areas of expertise. These presenters include artists, academicians, scientists, authors, storytellers, musicians and activists who are experienced and passionate about their field.
