Erguvan Art & Academy’s New Jersey team had the chance to visit the studio of master woodcarver Dennis O. Collier in the last few weeks! Â
Walking into his space immediately showed us why his work has been sought after for decades. The walls were painted in gold, maroon, green, and blue, the shelves held a special collection of tools, and around the room were artworks in progress that reflected an accumulation of skill and passion.
Dennis shared the stories behind some of his most memorable projects. He showed us a five-level pipe organ he carved, a custom-designed desk full of fine, intricate details, and the house he is currently building. We also got to see his impressive library filled with books of all kinds.Â
In between stories, he generously served us homemade vegan vegetable soup, a delicious recipe we’d love to add to Erguvan’s cooking book some day!
Learning from an artist with a lifetime of experience inspired our young artists and musicians. He set an example for us on how an artist sustains craft and curiosity as time passes by.
We’re grateful to have met Dennis and cannot wait to work together and keep in touch!
