Bay Area Erguvan at Ramadan Street 2025

June 20–21, 2024

This year, Bay Area Erguvan participated in the Ramadan Street event, where the community gathered to mark the start of Ramadan. As part of the event, we set up a stand for kids to make Hacivat and Karagoz puppets—a traditional part of Turkish culture. Children enjoyed creating their own puppets and getting a hands-on experience with this craft.

Members of Bay Area Erguvan also performed a short puppet show using the puppets the children had made. We set up a DIY stage for the performance, and the kids were able to watch the puppets come to life.

It was a simple but meaningful way for the community to engage with the traditions of Ramadan and share a piece of Turkish culture with the younger generation.
