This spring, Network8 at USC Upstate was honored with the John C. Stockwell Chancellor’s Cup — a recognition that marks a major milestone for the student-led initiative and the larger Erguvan Art & Academy community.
The Chancellor’s Cup is a highly regarded award presented annually to a student organization that has shown exceptional leadership, meaningful community engagement, and alignment with the mission and values of the university. Named after Dr. John C. Stockwell, former chancellor of USC Upstate, the award celebrates students who take initiative to make their campus a more dynamic and socially conscious place.
For Network8, receiving this award was more than just a moment of recognition — it was a sign that art, empathy, and activism can truly intersect and inspire. Through a range of thoughtful programming — from awareness projects around human rights and environmental justice to public art installations and storytelling events — the team has been consistent in bringing creativity into conversation with social impact.
As one of the many university branches of the Network8 initiative launched by Erguvan Art & Academy, the USC Upstate team has played a meaningful role in shaping what a values-driven art collective can look like on campus. Their collaborative approach, inclusive leadership, and emphasis on making space for both expression and action set them apart.
We’re proud to see Network8’s efforts recognized in this way and are excited for what’s ahead as their work continues to grow and connect with new audiences. A big congratulations to the USC Upstate team — and to all the hands behind the scenes who make this possible!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead
