Auctorium’s First Studio Shoot with Artist Dray

On June 28, Erguvan Art & Academy had the privilege of participating in Gathering in the Garden, an interfaith community event hosted by Celebration of Abraham at Davis Methodist Church. As part of the program, Erguvan presented our GeoBlox workshop—an interactive art-making experience inspired by the geometric patterns of the Alhambra and Al-Andalus. The event was a wonderful reminder that art is a universal language that creates space for dialogue.

Rather than working individually, participants were invited to partner with someone they had never met before. Each pair collaborated to paint and assemble a geometric mosaic, encouraging new friendships to form through the creative process.

Before the workshop began, we shared the story behind the project; how the intricate patterns of the Alhambra symbolize harmony and balance. Through our reading, Words Scattered Across the Earth, we reflected on the idea that, much like words forming a meaningful story, people from different backgrounds create something greater when they come together with openness and respect.

We are deeply grateful to Anne Kjemtrup, Helen Roland, Celebration of Abraham, Grace Garden, and everyone who helped make this meaningful gathering possible. We look forward to continuing these collaborations and creating more opportunities where art serves as a bridge between communities.

As a continuation of this project, the completed GeoBlox mosaics will become part of an upcoming Erguvan Art & Academy exhibition, where they will stand as lasting reminders of collaboration, shared creativity, and the beauty of building something together.

At Erguvan, we continue to believe in our guiding vision:

Art will save the world. May art save the world.
