Our Booth at the Woodland First Friday

During the first days of our summer program, Erguvan members Leyla, Polat, and Rengin visited Blue Wing Gallery as part of our effort to get to know the creative spaces surrounding our new Art Center. Their effort at a simple introduction led to an invitation to participate in Woodland’s First Friday.

First Friday is a monthly Downtown Woodland event that brings together local artists, galleries, businesses, live music, and the wider community. On August 7, just one day before the Grand Opening of the Erguvan Art Center, we set up our own booth on the lot next to Blue Wing Gallery.

At our booth, Miranda created live watercolor postcards for visitors. We also displayed a rack of handmade postcards by Erguvan members, shared information about our upcoming classes and Grand Opening, and introduced visitors to Erguvan Studio workshop kits, including GeoBlox, candle making, and mosaic vase decoration kits. Thank you Dilara and Miranda!

Thank you to Visit Woodland and the Blue Wing Gallery for the chance to participate in a Woodland arts tradition just weeks after our meeting!

P.S. One of the people we met at First Friday was a local artist named Alex. Weeks later, he stopped by the center to spend time working on one of his paintings in the space. It was a beautiful example of the kind of local creative connections we hope the Art Center will build.
