California Summer Camp 2022 at Redwood National

We were happy to welcome Woodland City Manager Ken Hiatt to the Erguvan Art Center for a visit and conversation about Erguvan’s growing presence in the Woodland community.
We began with a tour of the Art Center, sharing the different spaces we are building for art, education, creativity, and community. Over coffee and tea, we introduced Erguvan Art & Academy, the work we have done so far, and our vision for the new center.
We also spoke openly about two areas where we are hoping to grow: community outreach and funding. Ken shared valuable recommendations for local organizations and individuals we should connect with, and we discussed potential festivals and community events where Erguvan could participate and collaborate.
The visit also included a little music, with Meryem performing a song on guitar. Before leaving, Ken added his name to our signature wall—a growing record of the people who have visited, supported, and become part of the story of our new home.
We are grateful for the conversation, connections, and warm welcome as we continue finding our place in the Woodland community.
