2nd Author Promotion Night by Tramvay

On June 27, Tramvay hosted the second Author Promotion Night, focusing on the life and works of Cengiz Aytmatov.

The program introduced Aytmatov’s personal story, his childhood in Kyrgyzstan, the influence of war and hardship on his writing, and the major themes that shaped his literature. The presentation also explored how Kyrgyz oral traditions, world literature, and Aytmatov’s own life experiences came together in his work.

The night was led by Pınar Çetin, mother of Erguvan member Esra, who guided the audience through Aytmatov’s biography, literary world, and selected works such as

  • Jamilia (Cemile),
  • The White Ship (Beyaz Gemi),
  • Mother Earth (Toprak Ana),
  • Farewell, Gulsary! (Elveda Gülsarı),
  • The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years (Gün Olur Asra Bedel).

Through this event, Tramvay continued its author introduction series, creating a space to revisit important literary figures and reflect on the questions their works leave with us: memory, identity, suffering, humanity, and the search for meaning.
