The Quest Emporium Coffee Workshop

Brewing Art in Montclair

On June 21st, we held a “Painting with Coffee” workshop as Erguvan Studio at The Quest Emporium in Montclair, NJ. About 12–15 participants joined us to explore artmaking using coffee as paint. The first half of the session focused on tracing and detailing designs, followed by a more conversational, relaxed coloring session. We served Turkish delight and coffee provided by Paper Planes Coffee Co.—and welcomed both workshop attendees and casual visitors who peeked into the atmosphere.

In the days leading up to the workshop, thanks to advice from Diogenes Careira da Silva, the owner of The Quest Emporium, our team had the chance to visit Muvuca Coffee, a local Brazilian coffee roaster. They gave us a warm tour of their roasting process and generously shared their products.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Dio. His hospitality and thoughtful introductions helped us meet inspiring local artists and entrepreneurs—including @regancollageart, whose work was on display during the event. She’ll be featuring us in her upcoming blog and is working on a book about coffee-inspired art, which we’re excited to follow!

The entire day reflected what Erguvan Studio hopes to create: an open, creative space where people connect through art, shared interests, and meaningful conversation.

After the workshop, Erguvan members Meryem and Mercan joined the venue’s “Music Day” celebration with a short performance on oud and violin.
