We’re thrilled to share that Havva from Network8, an Erguvan-led student organization, has been awarded the 2025 Community Builders’ Award at USC Upstate! 🎉
This recognition comes after she led a year full of meaningful events, community outreach, and creative activism alongside incredibly passionate student members. Network8 branches are active across different campuses, and the USC Upstate chapter has become a hub for interdisciplinary dialogue, art-led advocacy, and educational engagement.
Over the past year, the team at USC Upstate has hosted a wide range of events that reflect what Network8 is all about: using art and creativity to spark conversation, build community, and bring visibility to important social issues. Some highlights include:
🎨 Cup of Knowledge – A coffee painting session that brought awareness to the situation of imprisoned children, particularly in Turkey, through powerful visual storytelling.
🎬 Movie Night & Henna – In celebration of Black History Month, students gathered to watch Hidden Figures and engage in conversations about representation and resilience.
🌍 Storm Drain Project – A collaborative effort to raise awareness around environmental sustainability and pollution through street art.
🍲 Community Iftar – A cultural dinner filled with crafts, storytelling, and meaningful dialogue, designed to introduce Ramadan traditions to a wider campus audience.
🦓 A Day at the Zoo – A creative approach to de-stressing before finals, where students explored the intersection of environmental education and mental wellness.
📣 And let’s not forget the ongoing Values Series talks, board recruitment campaigns, and community murals that Network8 members organized with remarkable dedication.
